Jillian Schlesinger (Director/Producer) is an independent filmmaker and Promax-winning TV writer-producer. She has worked in various capacities on documentaries and promotional campaigns for AMC, HBO, PBS, and Sundance Channel. Her debut effort as a producer, Rachel Smith’s Minustah Steals Goats, premiered at IDFA 2010. Maidentrip represents Jillian’s own maiden voyage as a feature documentary director. On her journey to make the film, she has—among crazier things—biked alone across Holland, sailed (not alone!) across the Pacific Ocean, and conspired to repurpose an inflatable rubber dinghy as a floating bathtub. Jillian is a graduate of Brown University, where she studied dramatic writing and linguistic anthropology. She currently divides her time between New York City and the rest of the world.
Hillary Spera (Director of Photography) is a cinematographer and camera operator on documentaries, music videos, feature films, and commercials. Documentaries include the SXSW award-winning Darkon, Alice Neel, This is Muray Hill, The Bowler, American Juggalo, and After Tiller. Current narrative feature work includes comedy improv feature High Road, directed by Upright Citizen’s Brigade founder Matt Walsh, and the recently completed Black Rock, directed by Katie Aselton, premiering at Sundance ’12. Hillary has shot short form content for the New York City Ballet, Sundance Channel, and PBS/Nova, and commercial work for clients such as Kelloggs, Ancestry.com, and Nike’s Road to Gameday. Hillary lives in Brooklyn, New York.
